This is why no polisher will ever touch your car's paint without us using a paint depth gauge on it first!
And as you can see in the photos, paint thickness can vary from car to car and even from panel to panel on a single car.
We need a starting point, and using a paint gauge is it. A paint gauge can help us determine that starting point.
The downside is that the gauge shows us the thickness of everything, primer, base coat, and clear coat. It doesn't show us just the thickness of the clear coat, which we want to polish.
There are so many finer points to getting your car looking its best.
And so many things can go wrong, polishing through your car's clear coat being the worst.
Not checking to see if we can even polish your car is a mistake.
It's part of our process and gets logged with your car's information.
It's the first step in bringing back your car's luster.
Clean. Protect. Maintain.
