Your Ceramic Coating May Need This If It's Going to Survive

The first week of your ceramic coating is CRUCIAL

Ceramic coatings have been the latest thing in the auto industry for a few years.

They give car enthusiasts and car owners in general great shine, protection, and make your vehicle easy to maintain. A wax or paint sealant can’t match their shine, protection, or easy maintenance.

Ceramic sealants have become popular in retail recently.

Popular in the DIY crowd, ceramic sealants offer many benefits of ceramic coatings, and are more budget friendly.

Both have their pros and cons with application. Yet, ceramic sealants can help ceramic coatings during those first few crucial days after coating.

The Problem

Once a professional-grade ceramic coating is applied to your vehicle, the coating is not fully cured.

It may take the ceramic coating 3-5 days to cure completely.

This isn’t an issue and your vehicle can get wet and dirty and it won’t harm the coating.

During these 3-5 days, we only recommend you don’t wash your vehicle. We provide a free followup wash a week later as it’s first wash.

The reason why is we don’t want any chemicals coming into contact with the ceramic coating while it’s curing. Even car wash soap could harm a coating's performance.

The chemical contact can affect the coating's hydrophobic nature. This might lead to missing out on the full benefits and enjoyment of having a ceramic coated vehicle.

Even though ceramic coatings are more resistant to water spots, there’s more potential for them during this 3-5 days.

Remember, every coating is different. The ceramic coatings we use need 3-5 days to fully cure, while other coatings are cured once applied.

With so many different coatings on the market, detail shop have plenty of choices. So, the coating you get is whichever one the shop is most comfortable with and in no way effects the overall performance.

This is going to sound silly but in this case, we need protection for your protection.

The Solution

So, it all comes down to protecting the ceramic coating from chemical damage while it cures.

And we can use a ceramic sealant on top to do that.

The sealant has a short cure time, less than 30 minutes, and will protect the coating while it cures.

This will give you the time to clean up anything from bird droppings, tree sap, or bug guts before it has a chance to damage your coating.

This isn't always necessary or required by every ceramic coating manufacturer. Yet, it has always been a standard part of our Solid Link Ceramic Coating System.

Above all, following this process ensures less chance of any issues for you.

Shine On

Every coating is different. Some may need a ceramic sealant and some may not.

It is the best way to help protect your ceramic coating while it cures.

For us, this is just one more way we can ensure you get the best possible results from a ceramic coating.
