WHY THIS DOCUMENT EXISTS
You can't see a ceramic coating. That's the problem with buying one, and it's why most coating guarantees don't mean much: legalese, hedged exclusions, and a manufacturer who'd rather blame your soap than stand behind their work.
This is the opposite. It's one page, written in plain English, signed by the person who actually did the work. It tells you exactly what's covered, what's not, and what we'll do if it fails. If anything here is unclear, ask me before you leave. That's the point of it.
WHAT WE GUARANTEE
Your vehicle received the coating described above, applied by us, to the panels on your vehicle. We guarantee it will perform as described for the term on this certificate. That term is the guarantee we're willing to stand behind.
If the coating fails because of a defect in the coating or its application, we will re-inspect and recoat the affected panel or panels at no charge. No fine print. No blame game. If our work failed, we fix it.
What "failure" means:
The ceramic coated area exhibits no water beading or water sheeting or anything that would come close to appearing like a ceramic coating was on the vehicle.
Multiple attempts to wash it, use specific chemicals on it to try and revive the coating, do not bring back any water beading or sheeting effects.
A note on water behavior: beading changes for reasons that aren't failure — a film on the surface, soap additives, wash habits, or a ceramic sealant that's due. Some of our coatings need a ceramic sealant every 3-4 months to keep that slick, hydrophobic layer fresh; others don't need anything. Your care kit gets you started. Water behavior isn't the test. When in doubt, bring it in, that's what the coating maintenance detail is for.
WHAT'S NOT COVERED
-
Physical damage — rock chips, scratches, dings, collisions, parking-lot damage, accidental damage, malicious damage, fire, hail, flood, stones, surface rust, rail dust, paint overspray
-
Failed clear coat - peeling, hazing, and fading
-
Wash damage - damage to the coated surface by incorrect manual wash techniques, automatic car washes, brushes or contaminated wash tools that may cause abrasion, abrasive pads, or harsh detergents that scratch the coating
-
Chemical damage — acid, harsh solvents, brake dust left to etch, or bird droppings, tree sap, and bug splatter left on the coating long enough to etch the surface
-
Water spotting — hard water left to dry on the surface. This is a care issue, not a coating failure. Unlike most of what's on this list, it's usually fixable. The brands we use make dedicated water-spot removers, so if it ever happens, we can typically get them off without harming the coating. But it's not covered by the guarantee.
-
Work done by others — any polishing, compounding, repainting, or body work on coated panels after delivery voids coverage on those panels. If another shop works on your car, tell them it's coated.
-
The end of its life — gradual loss of performance as the term ends is normal wear, not a defect
While failure on a single panel can happen, failure across the whole vehicle indicates something else. In most cases, it is a complete lack of maintenance or continued exposure to harsh chemicals such as:
-
Little to no maintenance or regular washing recommended by the coating installer and from a coating care guide
-
Ever 2 weeks or more often if vehicle gets heavily soiled repeatedly
-
-
Repeated use of drive-thru car washes which leaves consistent wash patterns on a vehicle and use acidic and alkaline chemicals
-
The continued use of non-recommended products and chemicals such as pH high and low cleaners:
-
Wheel acid
-
Alkaline cleaners
-
Any cleaner or soap not recommended for car use
-

WHAT KEEPS THIS GUARANTEE IN EFFECT
This is the part most shops bury. We're putting it up front. Three things:
-
Hand-wash or touch-free only. No brush washes. Your coating kit includes everything you need, and we'll show you at your follow-up wash.
-
Use the topper, if supplied. Some of our coatings need a ceramic sealant every 3-4 months to keep water behavior strong; others need nothing. If you opted for the coating the requires a ceramic sealant, you'll have a bottle in your kit to get you started
-
One annual check. Bring the car by once a year. It's free. It's not a fee and not a sales pitch. It's how small issues get caught before they become big ones, and it's how you'll see your coating still working, year after year.
That's the whole list. No hidden requirements. No surprise charges to keep a guarantee alive.
WHAT WE DO IF IT FAILS
If you feel there's an issue with your coating, contact us. We'll inspect the coating with you, in person, with your car.
-
If it's a covered defect, we recoat the affected panel or panels at no charge.
-
If it's something outside this guarantee, we'll tell you honestly what happened and what your options are. If it's a borderline call, we err on your side.
The remedy is repair or recoating, not a refund. Stated plainly: the prep and paint correction still protect your paint, and that work doesn't vanish if a coating fails. We'll make the coating right, not walk away from the job. And if we ever have to remove a coating we applied, we do it properly, without damaging your clear coat.
THE FINE PRINT THAT ISN'T FINE PRINT
-
This guarantee is with Precision Auto Aesthetics — a local shop, run by the person who signs this document. We're not a franchise, and we're not going anywhere. If something goes wrong, you talk to the same person who coated your car.
-
We register this guarantee in our records. You keep this certificate. It's the proof your car was coated, on this date, with this product. If you sell the car, this certificate goes with it and the guarantee transfers to the new owner once they contact us and we walk them through what keeps it valid. Until then, it stays with the original owner.
-
This guarantee belongs to this vehicle and this coating. It doesn't transfer to another car, and it doesn't cover coatings applied by anyone else.
-
A coating is not a force field. It makes washing easier and protects against the slow stuff. It doesn't make washing optional, and it doesn't stop rock chips.
Your ceramic coating does not protect against clear coat failure. If the clear coat on a vehicle fails, that's the result of manufacturing defects, UV exposure, time, climate, and/or years of environmental stress.
This ceramic coating guarantee is a workmanship guarantee. As long as proper, regular washing is maintained, your ceramic coating will last it's intended life. If your ceramic coating ever exhibits, and can be determined, anything consistent with improper prep work, application, or defective coating, the affected area(s) will be re-coated at our expense.
